MINISTER LUKAČ IN DERVENTA

Today, in the premises of Derventa Police Station, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Dragan Lukač, and the Derventa City Mayor, Mr Milorad Simić, launched the video-surveillance system in this city.

On this occasion, Minister Lukač said that 24 surveillance cameras were installed on the territory of Derventa, and that 4 of them were smart surveillance cameras with improved options.

The Minister and the Mayor discussed about the possibility to expand the video-surveillance system, since it proved to be highly useful for the security of the Republic of Srpska citizens.

Minister Lukač pointed out that the installed surveillance systems in the local communities in the Republic of Srpska had positive effect on the decrease in the number of registered criminal offences and contributed to improvement of the security situation, and he invited other local communities to also invest and cooperate with the RS MoI in order to provide a safe environment for all its citizens. The Minister mentioned that some criminal offences that included surveillance videos as evidence, such as the recent robbery in a bet shop in Derventa, recently ended with a court verdict and that the perpetrator was sentenced to eight years in prison.

The Minister also said that there were no cases of abuse of video-surveillance cameras on the territory of Doboj Police Administration, nor in any other police administrations in the Republic of Srpska. He emphasized the importance of monitoring who had access and passwords to the system.

The City Mayor expressed his gratitude that Derventa jined the local communities with established video-surveillance system. He pointed out that the City allocated more than BAM 90,000 from its budget for this purpose and that they planned to allocate BAM 50,000 in the following year for the same purpose.

The Head of Doboj Police Administration, Mr Slobodan Radinković, said that the smart surveillance cameras covered all entrances to the city from the direction of Banja Luka, Brod and Doboj. He pointed out that the smart cameras were equipped with flash lamps that recognized registration plates in night mode, giving a clear image of the vehicle and the driver.
