| Banja Luka | Tuesday, 01/11/2022

Today, in Banja Luka, in Zalužani Training Centre complex, wreaths were laid at the memorial for 13 fallen members of the 6th Detachment of the Special Police Brigade on the occasion of marking of the 30th anniversary of establishing the 3rd Detachment of Special Police Brigade.
‘’The 6th Detachment was established 30 years ago with one goal and task to protect and defend the Republic of Srpska with other fellow soldiers and the Republic of Srpska Army during the Homeland and Defence War. We have succeeded in that intention and completed the task. We were up to the task. At that point, we defended the Republic of Srpska with ‘’sword, sabre, and shining weapons’’, said the President of the Association of Veterans of the 6th Detachment of Special Police Brigade, Mr Zoran Krajinović.
The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Dragan Lukač, said that on this day we remember all fallen members of our fellow soldiers, our heroes who gave their lives for the Republic of Srpska.  ‘’Over two hundred wounded were in this unit. Many of our police officers, our fellow soldiers, were wounded several times, but they always returned to the ranks, side by side with their fellow soldiers, to continue fighting for the Republic of Srpska. We knew what kind of values we were defending, we knew what we were protecting, we knew that we were fighting for our people, for our country, and we did it heroically. Not a single member of the 6th Detachment was prosecuted for war crimes, implying that we fought heroically for the Republic of Srpska. We have kept all our values. The younger generations that are now members of special units keep to cherish all that we fought for and they are ready to fight for the Republic of Srpska without hesitation," said Minister Lukač.
The President of the Republic of Srpska, Ms.  Željka Cvijanović, said that it was a great honour for her to be at the event marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the 6th Detachment of the Special Police Brigade of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, remembering all those who gave their lives for the greatest cause that brought the freedom that we and today's generations enjoy and the generations that come after us will enjoy. ‘’But I should also say that this is a year of great jubilees, when we celebrate 30 years of the establishment of the Republic of Srpska and its institutions, the Republic of Srpska Army, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and that it should also serve as a warning to all of us to understand and respect all those values that are embedded into the Republic of Srpska and to respect the sacrifice that was made for our freedom that we have today," said President Cvijanović. She noted that she was proud of the results of the Ministry of the Interior and, of course, proud of the Government which had been investing in this complex during many years, providing better working conditions for our police throughout the Republic of Srpska.
The families of the fallen soldiers, the Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, the Mayor of the City of Banjaluka, Mr Draško Stanivuković, representatives of the Veterans’ Organisation of the Republic of Srpska, veterans of all detachments developed out of former Special Police Brigade, representatives of the Third Infantry Regiment of the Republic of Srpska Army, and others paid tribute to the fallen soldiers of this detachment.
