THE REPUBLIC OD SRPSKA MINISTRY OF THE INTERIOR MARKED ITS SAINT PATRON’S DAY

The Saint Patron’s Day of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, St. Michael the Archangel, was marked today – the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Dragan Lukač, and Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, laid a wreath at the central Memorial for the fallen members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior; memorial service was held and the consecration of ritual bread and koliva was performed at the memorial Church of St. Michael the Archangel.
On this occasion, at Zalužani Training Centre, Minister Lukač, the Republic of Srpska President, Mr Milorad Dodik, the President of the Republic of Srpska National Assembly, Mr Nenad Stevandić, and the Chairwoman of the Presidency of BIH, Ms Željka Cvijanović, opened the new facility of the Police Academy.
During the ceremony after the service at church, Minister Lukač signed a contract on basic police training with the cadets of XXV class of Police Academy and XI class for Special Anti-Terrorist Unit.
Minister Lukač congratulated the members of the Ministry 30 years of existence and the Saint Patron’s Day. He stated that the existence of the Training Centre was fully justified by the fact that 3,000 young members of the Ministry of the Interior were educated there.
The Republic of Srpska President, Mr Milorad Dodik, after congratulating the Saint Patron’s Day to all members of the Ministry, said that the institutions of the Republic of Srpska would support the Ministry of the Interior whose members should do everything to maintain public order and peace.
Serbian member of the Presidency of BIH, Ms Željka Cvijanović, said that it was extremely important for the Republic of Srpska to have strong institutions, efficient and well equipped police that can respond to security challenges of contemporary society.
The President of the Republic of Srpska National Assembly, Mr Nenad Stevandić, said that the police reform was the first great battle for the sovereignty of the Republic of Srpska, thus interrupting the line of constant abolishment of competences of the Republic of Srpska.
Banja Luka Bishop Jefrem led the church ceremonies also attended by the Republic of Serbia Assistant Director, Mr Dragan Vasiljević, ministers of the Republic of Serbia Government and many other officials of the Republic of Srpska institutions and Serbian representatives in BIH institutions.
