LECTURES ON ‘DANGERS LURKING COMPANIES WHEN DOING BUSINESS ONLINE’

Today, on the occasion of Safer Internet and Corporate Security Day, head of Department for Countering Cybercrime, Crime Police Administration, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, Mr Olivije Zimonja, held lectures at the Regional Chamber of Commerce in Banjaluka on ‘Dangers lurking companies when doing business online’ for the representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Republic of Srpska.

 

Mr Zimonja said that the rate of solved criminal cases for crimes committed in the domain of cybercrime was satisfactory, and that the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior was constantly working on improving their capacities.

He pointed out the importance of education on dangers lurking companies when doing business online and stressed that, when it comes to the structure of the criminal offences related to cybercrime, large number of them was committed against companies, and that the infection of protected computer systems commonly resulted from negligence and insufficient reading of e-mail correspondence. 

‘We still see the physical protection as more important than online protection, although everything points that the situation requires opposite steps to be taken. In some companies, there are many more funds and capital that are operated with online and yet, those companies invest less in digital protection’, Mr Zimonja said.

He added that the most common recorded criminal offences in this field were attack and unauthorized access to a protected computer and computer sabotage.
