| Banja Luka | Monday, 20/02/2023
Today, the total number of 51 police officers from all parts of the Republic of Srpska started basic police training for Gendarmerie, and during the training, they will be staying in the new facility, which is operational from today. The new facility is intended for the accommodation of the members of Special Anti-Terrorist Unit and Gendarmerie, and it is situated in the Training Centre complex, in Zalužani.
‘The police officers of the Anti-Terrorist Unit (SAU) and Gendarmerie Unit have to be constantly ready in both psychological and physical aspect, so the training represents an integral part of their daily activities, which is not the case with the regular police forces. They have to be prepared to face the most serious forms of crime, ranging from threats to the constitutional order of the Republic of Srpska, to the situations in which their own lives are in danger’, Minister of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, said.
The facility itself provides 800m2 of usable space – ground floor and first floor, and it is intended to accommodate the members of SAU and Gendarmerie while attending professional trainings in the Training Centre.
Minister Karan stated that this was just one of the facilities at the Training Centre whose building was about to be finalized, so they can be operational. He added that the opening of this facility provides the members of the Ministry with an opportunity to be both accommodated and attend a training within the Training Centre.
This way, the standards that contemporary police agencies aspire to are achieved - through continuous trainings and education of police officers so they are ready to efficiently respond to all security challenges set before them.
