INTERNATIONAL DAY OF REMEMBRANCE FOR FALLEN POLICE OFFICERS

Today, on the occasion of marking the International Day of Remembrance for Fallen Police Officers, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, laid wreaths at the memorial plaque to the fallen police officer of the Zvornik Police Administration, Dragan Đurić, and the Republic of SrpskaPolice Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, laid wreaths on the graves of the fallen police officers of the Prijedor Police Administration, Radenko Bašić and Slađenko Tubin.
Minister Karan said that the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior initiated a series of activities to protect police officers in terms of organisation, personnel and training as the result of the terrorist attack on the Zvornik Police Station, when one police officer was killed and two police officers were wounded.
‘’We organized our services in a different and improving way, forming special administrations for countering terrorism and extremism, since our member Dragan Đurić was the victim of a terrorist act," said Minister Karan.
He emphasised that police officers were protected through continuous training and equipping in order to be able to perform their duties properly and protect the life of citizens.
‘’Our police officers take an oath on the first day of their service affirming that they will protect the constitutional order, the lives and safety of all citizens, even when they endanger their own lives," said Minister Karan.
Minister Karan emphasised that a total of 30 police officers gave their lives since the Dayton Agreement while performing their official duties according to the Constitution and the law, protecting the constitutional order, protecting the lives of other citizens and their overall safety.
Minister Karan and Director Kostrešević alsolaid wreaths for the fallen members of theRepublic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior in the Defense-Patriotic War.
"We shall always remember the 782 members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior who laid down their lives for the Republic of Srpska in the Defense-Patriotic War," said Minister Karan.
