THE FOUNDATION STONE WAS LAID FOR THE NEW FACILITY OF THE GENDARMERIE UNIT AND THE GORICA STATION POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, and the Mayor of the city of Trebinje, Mr Mirko Đurić, laid the foundation stone for the new facility of the Gendarmerie Unit and the Gorica Station Police Department of the Trebinje Uniformed Police Administration.
Minister Karan said that the Gendarmerie Unit was a special part of the police force, with special equipment and specific tasks, and therefore it was necessary to have a separate training area for its members, which would also enable them to react quickly in case of emergency.
‘’Along with equipping and new facilities, the Republic of Srpska MoI pays special importance to increasing the number of staff within its units. The High School of Internal Affairs will also be in function from September. However, in order to strengthen capacity of our police, a new facility is also needed, and such facility will soon be in Trebinje’’, Minister Karan said. He said that significant funds were invested in the Ministry of the Interior, as shown by the fact that since 2018, more than BAM 150,000,000 had been invested in standard equipment for police officers and helicopters, as well as in new facilities throughout the Republic of Srpska.
The Mayor of the city of Trebinje, Mr Mirko Ćurić, said that this facility would further improve security in Trebinje, even though the security situation was satisfactory in past.
The Head of the Trebinje Unformed Police Administration, Mr Siniša Laketa, said that this Administration monitored the city expansion, and therefore deployed part of its units to the wider area of the city.
‘’The goal of the facility is to strengthen the security of all citizens in Trebinje and Herzegovina, just as the school policeman is additional security for all educators, parents, and their children," Mr Laketa said.
The Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, also attended the ceremony of laying of the foundation stone.
