MINISTER KARAN OPENED THE 2023 POLICE SPORTS DAY

The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, opened today the sports games of the members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior - ”2023 Police Sports Day” that were held on the premises of the Training Centre in Zalužani.
Minister Karan said that the sports day represented a reflection of the youth, and that the young police officers were the future of the RS MoI. He pointed out that the Police Sports Day gathered the most important values of police officers.
”Their level of training, stamina and capability, particularly among the members of our special units, gave many sportsmen and the policemen were always members of national teams, especially in martial arts, athletics and other sports”, said Minister Karan.
He added that the RS MoI sports games included not only police officers, but also civil and non-civil servants, Police Academy cadets and the students of the Faculty of Security Sciences.
”We have never had this many young people, almost 800 of them, I was not even aware how much the police rejuvenated over the last few years, until I saw them here”, said Minister Karan.
The Minister added that the enhancing human resources must be followed by appropriate equipping of the Ministry, emphasising that the Republic of Srpska Government allocated BAM 150 million for these purposes over the last six years.
Minister Karan stated that the investments in the Ministry of the Interior would continue, adding that the Ministry was enormous and demanded significant funds.
The President of the Trade Union of the RS Ministry of the Interior, Ms Anica Jondić, said that hosting the Police Sports Day was their pleasure, since it represented an opportunity for the police officers to get away from their everyday duties that require a high level of dedication and responsibility.
Inspector at the Administration for Police Training, Ms Ana Panić, said that the Sports Day was a wonderful experience, having in mind that it was also an opportunity to meet with their colleagues from other organisational units, adding that she would compete in shooting.
The Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, also attended the opening of the Police Sports Day.
739 employees of the Ministry from all parts of the Republic of Srpska competed in eight disciplines – shooting, swimming, judo, indoor soccer, 3x3 basketball, volleyball, cross country running and table tennis.
The Police Sports Day are held as a part of celebrating the Republic of Srpska Police Day.
