MINISTER KARAN EXTENDS HIS CONGRATULATIONS TO RS MoI POLICE OFFICERS IN PEACEKEEPING MISSIONS

On the occasion of 29th May, International Peacekeeping Day, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, extended his congratulations to the police officers of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, who are deployed to United Nations peacekeeping missions, noting that the RS MoI was committed to continue engaging its capacities in maintaining global peace and stability.
International Peacekeeping Day is celebrated in honor of all the men and women who served and serve the UN peacekeeping missions, for their high level of professionalism, dedication and courage, but also to remember the ones who lost their lives to preserve peace.
The police officers of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior have been participating in the UN peacekeeping missions for 23 years (since 2000), with the aim of providing support to the local community.
100 members of our Ministry have actively participated in the UN peacekeeping missions so far, including missions in East Timor, Liberia, Cyprus, South Sudan, DR Congo, Brindisi and Guinea Bissau, and 8 members of our Ministry are currently deployed in peacekeeping missions (5 of them in South Sudan and 3 of them in Cyprus).
Members of the RS Ministry of the Interior achieved significant results and their quality has been recognized in missions they were deployed in. As a result, 3 of our members had professional engagement in UN (in South Sudan, Brindisi and Guinea Bissau).
‘’Sending our members to UN peacekeeping missions worldwide is both our international obligation and strategic goal. Our police officers have great experience and it is their engagement in conflict areas in the world and notable results that show the level of stability and development of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior and the amount of contribution our police force provided at the international plan’’, said Minister Karan.
