SOUTHEAST EUROPE POLICE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION (SEPCA) GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN BANJA LUKA

| Banja Luka | Tuesday, 13/06/2023

The Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, opened today the First General Assembly of the Southeast Europe Police Chiefs Association (SEPCA), organized under the Presidency of the Republic of Srpska Police.

Police Director said he was pleased that the SEPCA General Assembly for 2023 was held in Banja Luka and attended by all the chiefs of the police agencies from Southeast Europe. He reminded that SEPCA was founded 21 years ago with the aim of improving and strengthening the capacities of police agencies in Southeast Europe in countering organised crime, and pointed out that several events were organised during the presidency with the aim of improving the cooperation and activities in the field of countering organised crime.

Furthermore, Director Kostrešević said that a conference was organised in March, also attended by all SEPCA members and supported by both Austrian and Italian police, and this was one of the larger events which resulted with an idea on the formation of cyber network. He added that without international and cross-border coordination, there was no serious fight against organised crime, and announced that a network of leading experts in countering cybercrime would be established within SEPCA.

Another point presented by Director Kostrešević was that Women Police Officers Network of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior (RS WPON) was formed within SEPCA with the aim of supporting women in the police, and said that this would be one of the topics of the General Assembly, since certain members of SEPCA had still not established the network.

The Assembly was attended by the directors and deputy directors of state members of SEPCA (Albania, Federation of BIH, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Moldova, Romania, the Republic of Srpska, the Republic of North Macedonia and Serbia) as well as the representatives of police agencies of Austria and Italy, and Interpol.
