THE STAFF MEETING: SATISFACTORY SECURITY SITUATION, PREPARATION FOR A SAFE SCHOOL YEAR

The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, hosted the Staff Meeting held at the Police Administration Bijeljina. The main conclusion of the Staff Meeting was that the security situation in the territory of the Republic of Srpska was satisfactory and no major security incidents were recorded in the past period, regardless the increased influx of citizens from abroad, numerous sports and cultural manifestations and other events that were held during this summer.
Mr Siniša Kostrešević, the Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr Stjepan Terzić, the Head of Bijeljina Police Administration, and heads of operational administrations at the Ministry Headquarters attended the Staff Meeting. It was noted that the Ministry of the Interior implemented a significant part of the measures predicted by the Plan of Measures and Activities for the prevention of peer violence and juvenile delinquency for 2022 – 2027, related to the beginning of the school year.
The goal of this strategic document is to improve the level of security in and around primary and secondary schools in the Republic of Srpska, and perhaps one of the most significant is the introduction of a school police officer in schools in the Republic of Srpska at the beginning of the new school year. At the Staff Meeting, it was stated that the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior would once again organise action "Protecting Children in Traffic", which was usually organised on the occasion of the beginning of the school year with the aim of safer participation of school-age children in traffic.
The Head of the Police Administration, Mr Stjepan Terzić, informed the Expert Staff Meeting about the security situation in the area operationally covered by this Police Administration. Furthermore, he informed about the activities that the Bijeljina Police Administration undertakes under its competence, which are related to the suppression of the African swine fever(ASF) which is the most widespread in the area of Semberija.
One of the conclusions of the Staff Meeting was that the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior monitors the activities related to the implementation of the measures of the Republic Headquarters for Emergency Situations related to the prevention of African swine fever in the Republic of Srpska and undertakes measures that are within its competence.
As part of these activities, police officers performed more than 180 inspections of passenger and cargo vehicles at established points and stopping points in order to determine the swine traffic.
