THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA MINISTRY OF THE INTERIOR REMAINS THE PROTECTOR OF THE CONSTITUTION AND SECURITY GUARANTOR

The Republic of Srpska is monitoring the current events both in the country and at global level. Regarding the events in the Middle East, the information is being exchanged at the level of international police cooperation in the field of terrorism and migration movements, and in accordance with their competence, the police officers are undertaking all necessary measures and activities to maintain the favourable security situation on the territory of the Republic of Srpska – this is one of the conclusions adopted at the Staff meeting of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, held in Banja Luka Police Administration.
At the Staff meeting, also attended by the Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, head of Banja Luka PA, Mr Đurica Vukelić, and heads of operational administrations of the Ministry at its headquarters, the commitment of the Ministry to protect the Constitution of the Republic of Srpska, guarantee the security to all citizens of the Republic of Srpska and maintain the favourable level of security on the territory of the Republic of Srpska was emphasized.
Therefore, another conclusion was that the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, as the protector of constitutional order, would defend the institutions of the Republic of Srpska and the President of the Republic of Srpska from attacks and imposition of decisions of an unrecognized person and the illegal process taking place in Sarajevo against the President of the Republic of Srpska due to implementing the decisions adopted by the institutions of the Republic of Srpska.
Another point confirmed at the Meeting was the decisiveness of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior to counter all forms of organised crime and corruption. Also, the activities of Banja Luka PA in the field of countering the abuse of narcotic drugs were praised, since only in the previous few months, nine great operational actions were successfully realised (‘Venera’, ‘Bul’, ‘Povratnik’, ‘Specijal’, ‘Polo’, ‘Kofer 2023’, ‘Plantaža 2023’, ‘Modus’, and ‘Omerta’), as well as the investigations that were focused on solving cases in which criminal offences against property were committed.
The head of Banja Luka PA introduced the participants of the Staff meeting with the security situation on the territory under the jurisdiction of Banja Luka PA, which was assessed as adequate, and pointed out that there was commitment to improving the relationship between the police and citizens in the sense of cooperation in the field of security in local community.
He added that, within the first nine months of this year, Banja Luka PA police officers successfully secured 399 public assemblies, 991 sports events and 27 of them were with higher risk.
Mr Vukelić also informed the participants about establishing the third location for vehicle registration on the territory of the city of Banja Luka – at the location of Banja Luka-Lauš Police Station, which would significantly relieve the other two locations dealing with this issue and is in the interest of the citizens.
At the Meeting, it was repeated that the Ministry of the Interior remains committed to the realization of measures defined by the Plan of measures and activities for the prevention of peer violence and minor delinquency for the period 2022-2027. Accordingly, the prevention campaign titled ‘Be a sigma! Report/Prevent peer violence!’, whose aim is to influence the students of primary and secondary schools to prevent the cases of peer violence.
Related to this issue, one of the conclusions was also that the level of security in and around schools has significantly improved as a result of introducing school police officers to schools in the Republic of Srpska.
