30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE 7TH DETACHMENT OF THE SPECIAL POLICE BRIGADE OF THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA MINISTRY OF THE INTERIOR

The 30th anniversary of establishing the 7th Detachment of the Special Police Brigade of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior was marked by memorial service, laying wreaths, and ceremonial academy in Prijedor.
On this occasion, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, pointed out that the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior nowadays was a respected, strong and powerful institution.
‘Ministry of the Interior guarantees protection of what the greatest sons of the Republic of Srpska left to us, freedom for all its citizens, constitutional order and property. In order to perform our mission successfully, we are constantly strengthening our organizational properties by training new personnel and building infrastructural capacities’, Minister Karan said.
‘This also is an occasion to remind ourselves of 144 fallen members of the Special Police Brigade, as well as all nine detachments, through which more than 1,500 police officers have gone through, and pay due respect to all 782 police officers who have given their lives for the Republic of Srpska’, Minister Karan added.
The war commander of the 7th Detachment, Mr Zlatko Brdar, stated that, on that day, the former members of the Detachment remembered their fallen fellow soldiers with special reverence.
A legate of the Republic of Srpska President, Mr Branislav Okuka, who was a war commander of the 8th Detachment of the Special Police Brigade of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, said that the members of the Detachment had had a clear, honourable and honest goal 30 years earlier when they started their mission of creating our homeland - the Republic of Srpska.
The President of the Veteran’s Organisation of the Republic of Srpska, Mr Radan Ostojić, said that this was an opportunity to commemorate the bravest sons of the Republic of Srpska and foster the culture of memory.
The mayor of Prijedor, Mr Slobodan Javor, said that a clear message was sent that day from the city. ‘We respect what is ours, we wish coexistence and peace, we wish the Dayton Peace Agreement to be complied with and the Republic of Srpska respected’, Mr Javor pointed out.
On the occasion of 30th anniversary of establishing the 7th Detachment of the Special Police Brigade of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, memorial service was held at the Holy Trinity Church, and then, the wreaths were laid at the central memorial ‘Za krst časni’ for the fallen fighters in the defensive-patriotic war and the memorial plaque at the building of Prijedor Police Administration, dedicated to the fallen police officers.
At Prijedor Theatre, the ceremonial academy was held and the guests were also the children of the fighters of the 7th Detachment and about thirty young members of the Ministry of the Interior for whom this was a form of a history class.
On the occasion of this anniversary, Minister Karan was awarded with ‘Ratni znak 7. Odreda’.
The marking of the 30th anniversary from establishing the 7th Detachment was also attended by the commander of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit, Mr Goran Balaban; Gendarmerie Commander, Mr Saša Japundža; and the head of Prijedor Police Administration, Mr Dragan Milojica.
