CELEBRATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA POLICE DAY

Today, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior celebrated the Republic of Srpska Police Day by laying wreaths and attending the memorial service at the Central memorial for the fallen members, as well as the main ceremony held at the Training Centre in Zalužani.
After congratulating the Police Day to all members of the Ministry of the Interior, Minister Siniša Karan said that the Ministry of the Interior had been and would remain the keeper of peace and safety in the Republic of Srpska.
Minister Karan pointed out that the security was not a present, but the result of daily work of around 7200 members of the Ministry of the Interior, and 5,500 of them are police officers who are burdened with huge responsibility on a daily basis.
‘Nowadays, security is a privilege we have thanks to the hard work of our police officers. It is for this reason that I wish to thank each of them who, with their professional, lawful, brave and dedicated attitude towards their activities and tasks, contributed to the security situation we nowadays have in the Republic of Srpska’, Minister Karan said. He added that the day was not a holiday just for the police, but all citizens of the Republic of Srpska. Minister also said that it was a day to remember and express our gratitude to all the police officers who honourably served their homeland and gave their lives during the last war and times of peace while performing their duties.
The President of the Republic of Srpska, Mr Milorad Dodik, said today that the police of the Republic of Srpska represented a security guarantee for the Republic of Srpska and all its citizens, and added that the members of the Republic of Srpska Police who gave their lives in order to defend and create the Republic of Srpska must never be forgotten.
The Serb member of BIH Presidency, Ms Željka Cvijanović, said today that the Republic of Srpska Police was not only the pillar of its statehood, but also the guarantee of its survival and protection of constitutional order, life and property of its citizens. She congratulated the Police Day to the citizens of the Republic of Srpska, Minister of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević and also to all members of the police.
The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Mr Nenad Stevandić, said that the Republic of Srpska was the most organised and independent part of BIH, who used its own resources to protect its constitutional order and guarantee peace and security of all citizens regardless of their religious, national and political orientation.
Prime Minister, Mr Radovan Višković, said today that the Republic of Srpska Police made all the citizens of the Republic of Srpska feel safe. He added that he was very proud of the Training Centre in Zalužani, especially since not even the more developed countries had a similar training centre.
During the ceremony, the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, decorated the head of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, general Milan Mojsilović, with the Golden Police Badge for successful cooperation. Mr Tomislav Mihalić, from EUROPOL, was decorated with the Silver Police Badge, for the level of professionalism and cooperation expressed in international actions.
On this occasion, there was also a demonstration exercise, performed by the members of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior.
