| Banja Luka
| Monday, 22/04/2024
Today, the head of the Uniformed Police Administration of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, Mr Miloš Brkić, opened the workshop titled ‘Enhancing protection of public spaces and critical infrastructures in the Western Balkans’, which was organised as a part of the Project of the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) for the countries of the Western Balkans.
He pointed out that the protection of critical infrastructure was a very important segment of society safety and that it would be impossible to provide unobstructed society functioning should there be to any sort of security threat, whether caused by human factor, cyber or terrorist attacks or natural disasters.
The Republic of Srpska Government, upon recognising the significance of critical infrastructure as well as the current events in the region and at global level, was the first in BIH to adopt the Law on Safety of Critical Infrastructures in 2019.
Mr Brkić stated that the project had been initiated at the right time, considering that the field was yet to be developed in our country, especially having in mind security threats becoming common both at regional and global level.
The participants of the workshop are the representatives of the ministries of the Republic of Srpska Government. The project is realised by the consortium headed by the French agency ‘Civipol’ (Ministry of the Interior of the French Republic), with the support of the Ministries of the Interior of Croatia, Italy and Greece.
