The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan and the Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, visited today the Donja Gradina Memorial Zone to observe the activities undertaken in order to provide a secure marking of the Remembrance Day of the victims of genocide against Serbs, Jews and Roma in the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) from 1941 to 1945, which will be marked on Sunday, May 12. On the occasion, Minister Karan and Director Kostrešević attended the meeting of the Organizing committee for the commemoration of the Remembrance Day, during which they analyzed the technical details of the event. It is expected that 15,000 citizens would attend the commemoration. Minister Karan pointed out that the police officers would undertake the necessary measures and activities to provide a peaceful and dignified commemoration, but that the transportation companies and citizens who plan to attend the event at Donja Gradina should act in accordance with the advice of the organizers.
