MINISTER KARAN HELD STAFF MEETING IN DOBOJ POLICE ADMINISTRATION

             The security situation on the territory of the Republic of Srpska is good, which is visible from all parameters for the first four months this year. The number of criminal offences of general crime (1,759) had been decreased by 10.4%, followed by an increase in the coefficient of solved cases and the coefficient of solved criminal cases where the perpetrator was unknown. It should be particularly pointed out that the number of casualties from traffic accidents in the first four months this year has been decreased by 6 compared to the same period last year (25). These were some of the conclusions of the Staff Meeting that Minister Karan held in the premises of the Doboj Police Administration.
         The Staff Meeting was also attended by the Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević and the heads of operational administrations of the Ministry at its HQ and the head of Doboj Police Administration, Mr Slobodan Radinković. They analyzed the activities of police officers in all security areas.
           Head of the Doboj PA, Mr Slobodan Radinković, presented the security situation of the territory covered by that administration, and it was evaluated as favorable.
Minister Karan also referred to the recent events and commended the police officers for their work in securing the public assemblies in Donja Gradina and the opening of the Arnaudija Mosque in Banja Luka, as well as on their actions in solving the aggravated theft in Banja Luka, where the police officers identified an international criminal group.
In the first four months this year there were 187 criminal offences of Aggravated Theft in the Republic of Srpska, representing a decrease by 32.5%, whereas there were 14 criminal offences of Armed Robbery, all of which were solved, which represents a disclosure rate of 100%.
Given the fact that the summer holidays start soon, it was concluded that particular attention should be paid to the protection of the property of the citizens. They are invited to undertake all the necessary measures to protect their homes and property.
The number of criminal offences related to property (758) has been reduced by 19.9%, and the overall solving case has increased, including solving the criminal offences committed by an unknown perpetrator.
             The number of criminal offences against life and limb (203) has been reduced by 11.4% compared to the same period last year. There were 3 murders committed by an unknown perpetrator (1 criminal offence of First degree murder and 2 criminal offences of Murder). All these cases have been solved.
            The number of criminal offences against sexual abuse and exploitation of children has been reduced by 72.5% (there were 11 criminal offences), and there were 55 juvenile delinquents who committed the total of 43 criminal offences. The number of juvenile perpetrators has been reduced by 16.7%.
            Owing to the activities of police officers, there was a significant increase in the detection of criminal offences of economic crime. In the period from January to April 2024, they detected the total of 49 criminal offences, whereas in the comparative period there were 7.
         The participants of the Staff Meeting also analyzed the activities that refer to countering terrorism and extremism, migrant crisis, cooperation and exchange of intelligence with international law enforcement agencies, as well as administrative and legal affairs of the Ministry.
            The Minister stated that the total of 139,807 ID cards of the Republic of Srpska will expire by the end of the current year, and that this is the reason that number of requests from citizens for the issuance of personal documents has increased, which in some locations for issuing documents exceeds 130%. In the first four months, 340,000 requests from citizens were processed in the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior.
         Accordingly, this Ministry invites the citizens in Srpska to submit requests for replacement of personal documents in a timely manner (before the expiration date), and to be aware of possible crowds at the locations for issuing personal documents.
The Ministry engaged the maximum number of employees and organized work in two shifts where necessary.
They also concluded that the police officers of the RS Ministry of the Interior will do everything to maintain a favorable security situation in the territory of the Republic of Srpska, especially bearing in mind possible events related to the possible adoption of the Resolution on Srebrenica.
