Security situation on the territory of the Republic of Srpska is favourable, and citizens live in peaceful and safe environment, and the members of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior are successfully performing activities in their competence defined by law and regulated by the constitution – this is the main conclusion of the extended staff meeting of the Minister of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, held today at the Administration Centre of the Republic of Srpska Government in Istočno Sarajevo.
The President of the Republic, Mr Milorad Dodik, also attended the staff meeting.
Minister Karan said that the security was no longer a privilege but the result of painstaking daily work of more than 6,000 members of the Ministry of the Interior. He added that, in the first half of the year, the crime rate was almost 10% lower, and the rate of general crime and crime against property was 24% lower.
‘We are especially pleased with the total rate of soved criminal cases committed by a known and unknown perpetrator, which varies between 80% and 85%’, Minister Karan pointed out. He explained that the good thing was that almost all the most serious cases of criminal offences were solved, particularly those involving murders.
According to the Minister, the high level of activism in countering the abuse of narcotic drugs, organised crime and economic crime remained.
‘Within eight investigations and operations, we have investigated 81 persons for the possibility of being linked to the most serious forms of organised crime. I would especially like to point out that those are international operations and that we cooperate with large number of agencies and Europol in the field of detecting organised crime. We monitor the field of terrorism and extremism with special dedication’, Minister Karan said.
He pointed out that terrorism and extremism nowadays had become global issues that the Ministry is considering. He continued that the Administration for protecting persons and facilities dedicates special attention to protecting persons, such as President Dodik.
The Republic of Srpska President, Mr Milorad Dodik, pointed out that the members of the Ministry of the Interior had been performing their tasks successfully, and that Srpska had trained police and that the security situation is favourable.
‘If the Republic of Srpska Police did not exist, I believe that, nowadays, there would be no Srpska either. I am sure that the security situation would never be as safe or stable’, Mr Dodik pointed out.
‘As the President of the Republic, I am convinced that the police officers, members of the Ministry of the Interior and all its structures, successfully fulfill their planned tasks. Therefore, we, as a society have to do everything for them to be even better, better trained and provide them with even better equipment’, President Dodik said.
‘It is nice to see young men and women performing their police tasks all around the Republic of Srpska. It is also important for us to know that there are members of SAU and Gendarmerie as especially trained groups within the police who are ready to respond to various tasks’, President Dodik said.
He urged the citizens to express their respect towards the police officers every time they meet them, since it is the police officers who watch over them and their families, and therefore it is important for them to have people’s support.
