PRESENTATION OF THE POSSIBILITY OF PAYING FINES USING PAYMENT CARDS

| Banja Luka | Wednesday, 24/07/2024

Today, in Banja Luka, the representatives of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior demonstrated the possibility of using payment cards for electronic payments at the spot for fines that result from violations of traffic regulations.

The Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, said that this was a relief for citizens, especially those who did not have permanent or temporary residence in the Republic of Srpska.

‘Due to the lack of such system in the past, there are about 40,000 violations for which fines remained unpaid, and these are mostly committed by persons who live abroad’, Minister Karan said.

He added that this service also had the option to recognize those for whom there were unpaid violation warrants.

‘The test phase starts today in Banjaluka PA and Bijeljina PA, and will last for two or three weeks, and after that, it is going to be applied on the whole territory of the Republic of Srpska’, Minister Karan said and pointed to the importance of following the traffic regulations. He stated that this type of system could be found in only a few countries in the region.

Furthermore, he thanked the representatives of ‘NLB bank’ Banjaluka for their cooperation during the implementation of the system in the Republic of Srpska.

The President of ‘NLB bank’ Banjaluka management, Mr Goran Babić, said that they believed that citizens would be able to pay fine for a traffic violation in an easier and more efficient manner, without queuing at counters.

‘Of course, they will be able to pay the amount that is 50% lower than the prescribed fine, since they are paying for it at the spot’, Mr Babić said.

The Republic of Srpska Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, also attended the presentation of the possibility of paying fines using the electronic system.
