THE 10TH GROUP OF CANDIDATES FOR GENDARMERIE COMPLETED THEIR TRAINING

      Today, at the Training Centre in Zalužani, the members of the 10th group for police officers of the Gendarmerie of the Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior received certificates for successfully completing the basic three-month training.
       The certificates were awarded to 29 members in the presence of the Republic of Srpska Minister of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, and Police Director, Mr Siniša Kostrešević.      
    The Republic of Srpska Ministry of the Interior, Mr Siniša Karan, said that establishing of the Gendarmerie proved justified, since this was a unit capable to face the greatest security challenges.
     ‘The candidates for Gendarmerie come from police units and are already knowledgeable in police work. However, this basic training provides them with an upgrade that will help them in facing specific security challenges’, Minister Karan said.
        He added that, along with the basic training, which is rather demanding, there was also the advanced training.
     ‘They also attend several other trainings, such as sniper training, training for the use of firearms, topography, mass control, VIP protection, cavalry training, etc.’, Minister Karan said.                
        So far, 361 police officer successfully completed the basic training, whereas 109 members completed the advanced one.         
      The Gendarmerie was established in 2019 for the purpose of providing a faster and more efficient response for greater and more complex security challenges, but also for the purpose of improving the quality, organisation and capacities of the intervention capacities (units for police support), and to provide a unified and equal cooperation of several units, including the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit.
